Chief Barr. Odion Peter Odia is an accomplished legal practitioner with about three decades of distinguished practice across Nigeria. He brings a rich blend of heritage, expertise, and public service to the legal profession.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree (Second Class Honours) from Edo State University, Ekpoma, obtained in 1995, and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1996 after completing his legal training at the Nigerian Law School, Lagos. During his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in 1997, he served at the Corporate Affairs Commission, National Headquarters, Abuja — marking the beginning of his extensive legal career.

Chief Odia's legal practice spans corporate and commercial law, arbitration, civil and criminal litigation, and consultancy. He has served as Legal Adviser, Solicitor, Arbitrator, and Consultant to numerous corporate organisations and development partners nationwide. He was appointed Notary Public by the Honourable Chief Justice of Nigeria in 2015 and conferred with the Fellowship of the Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators (FCArb) in 2021.

Beyond private practice, Chief Odia is deeply committed to advancing human rights and legal awareness. In 2015, he founded the Human Rights and Accountability Initiative (HURAIN), an NGO dedicated to educating Nigerian citizens about their legal rights through radio, television, and print media. HURAIN has also provided pro bono legal services to indigent litigants and championed numerous philanthropic initiatives.

In August 2024, he was honoured with the chieftaincy title "The Oseikhueme of the Great Egoro Kingdom," Edo State, in recognition of his service and contributions to society. He serves as CEO of several companies in Nigeria and has travelled extensively across the USA, UK, and Europe, integrating global best practices into his legal work.

HURAIN — Human Rights & Accountability Initiative

Founded in 2015 by Chief Barr. Odion Peter Odia, HURAIN is an NGO dedicated to educating Nigerian citizens about their constitutional and legal rights through radio, television, and print media — while providing pro bono legal services to those who cannot afford legal representation.
